Balloon Festival Offers Arts, Crafts, Entertainment, Local Food, and Fun!
The Ogden Valley Balloon Festival in Eden is scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 18th, 19th, and 20th. The Balloon Festival is being held at Eden Park, with morning hot air balloon launches, arts and crafts, kid’s games, food booths, as well as continuous live entertainment. The popular Balloon Glow will take place both Friday and Saturday evenings at dusk, approximately 8:45 p.m. Admission is FREE to the public!!
“We are so happy to be returning to Eden Park allowing us to once again take advantage of such a wonderful location. The views looking northeast over the Valley are just wonderful, and the visual connection to the balloon launch site adds synergy to the event” commented Terry Murphy, Chairperson for the festival. The park also offers a nice shaded area for arts and crafts, a perfect venue for all of the live entertainment, and a spacious area for food vendors with a bowery of picnic tables for diners to relax and enjoy the full medley of local faire.
A fundraiser breakfast, benefitting the Ogden Rescue Mission, is back this year! Beginning at 7:00 a.m. every morning a buffet breakfast will be served in memory of Gary Dowdy. All proceeds will be donated to the mission. Other food vendors during the festival include; BBQ wings, Navajo tacos, snacks and treats such as kettle corn, ice cream, and shaved ice. So, bring your appetite!
For youth of all ages, there will be an inflated 26 feet long, walk-through heart donated by Ogden Regional Medical. Ogden Nature Center will be providing an obstacle course, an owl presentation and hands-on art projects. The YMCA will be offering a balloon craft project that can be completed at the festival and much more.
Activities at Eden Park are scheduled as follows:
Friday, August 18: 7:00 media launch
Booths are open 4 .pm. – 10:00 p.m.
Saturday, August 19: 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Sunday, August 20: 7:00 a.m. – Noon
Free shuttles will be provided by Powder Mountain from Snowcrest Junior High and the Powder Mountain parking lots. Additionally, bicycles can be ridden to the event and locked along the chain link fence at the park.
