The Ogden Valley Balloon Festival has paired up with 24/7 Physician On Call to help single mothers and fathers who need non-emergency medical assistance for themselves and their children at no charge for a full year (then only $19.95 per month if they wish to continue).
24/7 Physician On Call offers the affordable “Family Program” giving single parents an opportunity to speak with a doctor for quality medical consultations via phone, email, or video chat. It is as simple as it sounds. The single parent will type in the condition(s) that they or a family member is experiencing, and a medical professional will then call, email or video chat within an hour. The physicians can diagnose symptoms and prescribe the prescription they need to start feeling better.
In addition, this service also includes:
- Messaging with a specialist by a secure email.
- Ability to talk to a counselor for support and problem resolution, along with a follow up.
- Healthcare advocacy and RX discounts.
Statistics show that nearly 70% of doctor office visits and emergency room visits are unnecessary. These visits could be resolved with a simple consultation with a doctor via phone or email. If it is a life-threatening or serious emergency, it is recommended that appropriate precautions be taken with a visit to the hospital or clinic as needed. Both The Ogden Valley Balloon Festival and 24/7 Physician On Call feel strongly about this.
17.2 million children in the United States are raised by single mothers who are struggling to make ends meet. 3 million children in the United States are raised solely by their father. While 2.8 million children in the United States are living without a parent present in the home. Medical care is something no child should be forced to go without.
The current Chair of the Ogden Valley Balloon Festival, Terry Murphy, was a single mother. She worked 3 jobs at one time, just to keep her and her daughter’s life as normal as possible. Murphy has always had the dream to be able to give back to other single mothers who may be struggling to provide the necessities for their family. She understands the difficulties that come with being a single parent. Murphy wants to be able to take at least one worry off their shoulders by giving them the medical care they desperately need.
Let’s help make this possible!
The Ogden Valley Balloon Festival wants to give these single parents and children the medical care they deserve and need. The organization hopes to help at least 1,500 families with 24/7 Physician On Call subscriptions free of charge for the first year of service. We are raising funds for this great organization all year, and we will have more information live at the event, with all donations raised going towards families in need of medical care.
